Post subject: Looking for feedback on Absynth |

| With the recent resurection of Absynth (Green Fairy) I've been itching to try the stuff. However some research on my behalf has determined that the Absynth with the highest levels of the active ingredient (biproduct of wormwood) at 100 mg is like $400 bucks a bottle! So I guess my question is two-fold. Has anyone here tried the original strength stuff and what was their impression of it? |

| my friends have tried Absinthe (the correct spelling) and about 750 ml in size, it costs just under $80 Cdn here in Ontario liquor stores. I have yet to taste this liquor as im working my way up to it. Supposed to taste herb-like. |

The BC Liquor Stores also carry a form of Absinthe (spelling just for you tiggerwildcat , but check this out http://users.pandora.be/absyntheminded/absynthe.htm) for around the same price. Although I'll probably go ahead and try it I believe that products in that price range have low to no levels of Thujone (which is the stuff that makes authentic Absinthe the stuff of legend). I have seen Absinthe advertized at 100mg of Thujone which is on par with the stuff quaffed by Hemmingway, Oscar Wild and Van Gogh. It's about $200 US for 750 ml bottle. I'm really curious if the supposed effects live up to the billing. Who knows? I might get in touch with my creative side! With my luck, I'll just wake up missing an ear. |

| I Actually purchased a bottle while i was in Niagra Falls in march for around $80 cnd and first of all it doesnt taste herby. It burns period. We didnt use the sugar so that could of been our downfall but let me tell you that it burns everything it touches. As far as thujone content im not sure it doesnt say it on the bottle however it was the most expensive bottle they had. Also i dont recall hallucinating at all so i am going to say that it was only the 10mg and not the 100mg. So in the end if your going to try it i would def say pay the $200 and get the 100mgs of thujone |

Thanks for the info. I think I'll take your advice and spring for the good stuff (if they can export to Canada). If I just want something that burns, there's always Everclear or 151 Bacardi! |

I bought a bottle for a party, only a 70cl bottle it's pricy hooch!
After a few beers & a couple of vodka/cokes only two of us braved it. We drank it straight, in shot glasses & it tastes very similar to sambuca, but a little smoother.
Next morning I woke up with a minor hangover (VERY happily surprised!) & found the empty bottle with the beer bottles etc.
I assumed the bottle got tipped down the sink (to get rid of!) but the other people at the party insist my friend & I drank it all.
To this day I still find it hard to beleive (as does he), however I can't recall anything after the first shot. I'm not saying it's Hallucinogenic & the beers & vodka didn't help, but you can lose time with it. |
