Hey folks,
First post here, came here for a reason completely unrelated but figured I might as well kill two birds with one stone. A while back, I was at a house party with a friend and we were enjoying knocking back a few "Cointreau 43's". The name was, according to my pal, simply a compound of the name of the two drinks he put in to make it. It was put together, whirled around so as to leave a residue on the inside of the glass, lit, covered with another glass to extinguish the fire, the fumes inhaled via a straw tucked under the top glass and then the shot knocked back. It had a chocolately-orange taste to it and was a very sweet drink to be on for the whole night.
Has anyone ever heard of this and, more importantly, know where I can get the "43" liqueur from? I'm in England, so don't know if it may be a 'continental' thing.

Licor 43, ("Cuarenta Y Tres") is probably the ingredient you're looking for. It's a "classic" liqueur, meaning that it's been around a lot longer than most of the junk you find on your liquor store shelves, and you shouldn't have any trouble finding some at any decently sized liquor store. If you can't find it, just ask the store manager to order some, they're usually happy to oblige. |
