Hi All,
I found this forum when I was hunting for some tricks of the trade.
I just landed a job at a local country club (doing large weddings and stuff) that was willing to train me. I have done little stuff here and there for family events ( my family are BIG drinkers) But I have next to no experience in a more professional atmosphere...
I am wondering if some one can tell me where I can find a good cheat sheet to start doing some "homework" and recommend a decent book that would not only tell me some of the basics but also some drinks I can make that are a little less common ( by the way I LOVE the Dotw and things like that on here!!!)
Any advice welcome, This has been a long time desire of mine since I love working in fast paced environments!

As for bar books, I suggest going to a bookstore and checking them out. Usually bar books are prefaced with a number of pages on drinks, drinking, bartending and general information that is good to know. If you're just starting out, be sure to pick up a book that emphasizes classic drinks and preparation. If you just want to order a book online, we list some in our product links area too:

Welcome to Drinknation's Forums!!!! We're a bit crazy sometimes but it's probably due to the alcohol. Congrats on getting a intro job and what not. Don't have much to say as I make drinks for parties not professionally. I do want to go to bartending school but I don't know if it would be a waste of money for me. Although I would like a perty little degree.
