Hey, I'm kristina, this is my first post. I think i just got a job at a new bar near my house. The title is waitress/barmaid and it is a small neighborhood bar type setup. A pool table, a jukebox and a pistons game. It seems to get pretty full at night with mostly 30-something guys. My question is what kinds of drinks should i get a feel for before starting. The owner knows i dont have experience, but i would like to at least make a good impression and show him how much the job will mean to me. I noticed that they advertised specials on martinis and long islands but the truth is every time i've went in there i dont see anyone drinking martinis. Anyways I'm going to learn those drinks well but i was wondering if anyone had other drinks that would be valuable and any tips or advice. Thanks so much!

First, They might be drinking martini's just not drinking them "up" ( the the fancy glass)
I have a lot of guys that like martini's on the rocks
For men i seem to pour a lot of Scotch on the rocks, Manhattans ( mainly for older men) Gin and tonic or vodka and club soda's And Tons of Whiskey's and Coke's ( ie: beam and coke, jack and coke, Knob creek and coke)
But each place is different.
I have also found that if you have a lot of regular's you will get better tips if you can remember what they usually drink. I have some that i can just pour it when they walk in and others that I just ask if they want "the Usual" and they seam to like that
Just my 2 cents
