Anyone know if this site's done or if the mods who run the site have been devoting their attentions on other projects and will come back in 2008. Hate to see a site die like this but to all good things must come an end. Barmeister.com has been accepting drink submissions and have a few of mine on there since this one hasn't had any new updates since January. If anyone has any info on whether the mods have been busy elsewhere and if any updates before autumn have been made, I hate to see a site like this just fade off into nothingness.

The problem with sites that accept drink recipe submissions is that they don't bother to select the good drinks, they just let anyone submit anything.

If these submitted recipes were any good, we would hear about them the "normal" way, i.e. word of mouth, personal recommendations etc.

As to whether this site is dead, the answer is: It still has a pulse. But there are just not that many people looking for cocktails on the internet, not as many as some people assume.

Webtender.
Egullet.
Drinkboy.
Barbore.

Thats where I usually hang-out.

So basically what your saying is if we get any new submissions on this site before end of the year we'll be lucky? Hate to see a site go but 7835 is a pretty good run if you ask me.

It could benefit from an enhancement-I mean, what do people do when they drink...the rock out!If you could tie in music(like hip-hop,metal,etc)then that would be cool.Also,remember-Myspace=advertisement=more people on yer site.Incidentally, every band, musician, and bar on this planet is already benefitting from this!Also-this would enable you to host a "guest"bar or bartender making a "house drink of the week"on a little video clip.Shit, there's tons of ways to make this site rock even harder. You could theme the left part of the page with rap/hip-hop,the right side with rock/metal(yeah metalheads just LOVE alcohol dude),and the middle would be newest drink etc.

Good to see that this site has came back, was beginning to wonder. Sure that there is a backlog of submissions that will be posted on here. I do like the video clip idea you had there buzzdragon, I can see it working. Now if the bartender was either mentally challenged or flamboyantly gay.

yay! there is life on the site again! now just what have the drinknation crews been up to all this time! i still say shoot for the stars and get as many drinks as possible on the site!! i have a suggestion ( it involves more work for the crew) go through the existing list and get rid of duplicates. any drink with a very slight variation 1/2 oz measurement, could be shown at the bottom of the page. a 2 for 1 deal? just some thoughts i had.

advertising is good, but the site needs to have some flash to it. redesign the site make it really easy to get around. UPDATE THE DRINK OF WEEK...EVERYWEEK!!! sorry for raising my voice but it had to be said!

add a new forum!!! how to improve the site to be the best ever!!!!!!!! are u listening drinknation crew??? your drink-loving fans will come out and support you! now hop to it!!

we have a pulse! now lets get the booze flowing!!! 7000+ recipes i know are floating around on here. i still trying to copy down the ones i stored in my own favorites file! where do i find the time to try them all???
that was when there was only like 5000 in the database. how big can this database go??? how many drinks can we hold on here??

i agree about the voting thing. i will vote on drinks once i get to tasting them, that i can promise.
* A suggestion--change the wording for each level of voting--some DO NOT make any sense it should sound cool like 10 should equal fantastic, should be mass-produced immediately!

well it is the beginning of a new year shortly, so maybe trying to taste test all these drinks should be a new year resolution for all us drinknation fans????

cheers to all and to a great 2008!

I was wondering and yes I know I promoted another drink submission site but that was over 4 months without any update on this site. I was wondering if since I did that if any new drink submission I do will be ignored, I can put the cleaner names on here. I know a drink called "Raped by Santa Under the Christmas Tree" wouldn't fly on here neither would my variation on the sex on the beach recipe I called sex on the beach with a retarded mexican".

Nah. I highly doubt your drink submissions will be ignored. If you do a quick search you'll realize that a lot of the drinks on there and a lot of drinks that were submitted by Buzz have very interesting names. I'd submit them with their current names and if worse comes to worse I'm quite sure all they need to do is add a couple of *'s.

Hope that helps!

And just to add to my previous message.. You should check yourself out on the front page and see that the drinks you've submitted with the crazy names are all on there!

I was thinking that perhaps since I didn't know that this site was gonna come back up I told people to go to another site and didn't know if that got the moderators on here pissed off. After four months I and sure everyone else here thought that this site was done for. Saw where you were talking about is adding a few s's? As I said I will try to put cleaner names on here.

That's the beauty of the site Heph. The moderators/creators of the website are pretty chill. It's all good though regardless! We're gonna rock out now.

Also go with the names in which you create regardless of the swears. All of us should be at least within drinking age of each country in which we reside so I doubt a few cuss words will turn the adults away Wink

I'm enjoying your drinks though. We were planning on grabbing a couple of them for tonights party. I'll let you know how they go!
