Has anyone had any success or failures with Online bartending school?

Well reason I ask is since I actually dont have very much time in my schedual. Actually none at all. I was thinking of doing an online bartending school. Theres a banner normally at the top of the forums for the Bartending Institute of New york.

If anyone has any experiences with them or with online bartending school let me know. Im actually leaning towards doing it.

If you really wanna bartend, forget these online courses. Being a bartender of many years and managing clubs, I can tell you, there are enough bad bartenders as there are great ones, and seeing as you still would not have touched a bottle with mentorship behind you, you'd be lucky to get behind a bar and if you did, your ONLINE COURSE would not make it apparent that you ever went to a bartending school. I mean no offense, but if you want to bartend, and you know you have the personality, try to take a course...some may allow you to finish up over a weekend full time depending on where you live. That's my recommendation, good luck!

In my opinion, and since I spent many years on the other side of the rail it's a confidence thing. If you drink, can mix drinks and have a positive personality than all you need is to get behind a bar. There is sometimes alot of leg work to be done, and low wages, but after a few months, you will be experienced. I would assume you would try smaller clubs not hoppin clubs unless you really know your mixology..Some places require speed, some konwledge but all in all, personality wins almost everytime.

Somehow get behind the bar in a flunky capacity. Get a book and start memorizing drinks. Practice pouring. Take shitty fill-in shifts. Fake it until you make it!
