Anyone ever worked weddings? I was wondering what a normal array of ordering is that happens at weddings. Mostly highballs, or wine maybe?

I'm assuming you mean wedding bars. Weddings bars have to be stocked with quite a bit because you'll get alot of people really fast, and wont have time to run out of anything. Most of it is simple mixed drinks like gin-n-tonics, rum-n-cokes, but depending on the general age of the crowd you may be asked to make a few manhattens, martinis, etc. WINE and champagne is a DEFINITE. Make sure you have lots of red sorts (and whites too) on hand. You'll need to make Kitty Cocktails for the kiddies, too You can make TONS of money at weddings so be prepared, look good, and most of all, have fun.

i have actually just started my own company catering the bar @ wedding and parties. i have worked for someone else for 10 years doing this. i take a full bar in to every wedding i do. including baileys, kahlua, peach schnapps, comfort, 3-4 whiskeys, 2-3 vodkas, 2 scotches, 3 rums (1 white 2 flavored) wine, beer (payee's choice, and definately try to talk them out of keg or bottled beer (cans work best).

in these times of lawsuits, police and just thatdrunk driving is really stupid, i don't and haven't in 7 years serve shots @ a wedding reception. people + free alcohol+
drinking shots= probably the biggest recipe for disaster you can imagine.
i was once sued (when i owned a bar) for being 1 of 8 bars that served a girl who subsiquently was killed while driving drunk. the time, money and trouble this caused my business, made me realize that pouring shot after shot after shot to people is just really not worth it.

I have been tending for 13 years and have been doing private bartending to some extent most of that time.

Weddings are your bread and butter. Just too bad the season doesn't last that long.

I'm in Oklahoma. The bad part is that you can't legally bring the alcohol to the party as the tender unless you have a very specific license.

So, you simply give a list to the host and they get the booze.

Mostly highballs, wine and beer.

Pay averages $15 - $40 hour.
