Hi everybody!
Well i never knew such a site existed (sheltered life). Ive been bartending for two years or so now, and although i never went to a college or school i like to think myself as being rather good at it. Is it a mandator thing in some places to trrain for it? We just tend to just get trained as we go along.
I was just searching the web for some cool tricks to show off to the customers so if any body knows any please share? I work in a 'trendy' bar in the UK and its hard work so its just rerally to break up the eveings and weekends and have a laugh?

Well I've only been home tending in the US for a few years, I have been certified by a school and tend many private events, weddings, parties, country clubs... etc. It isn't required in most places to be certified, it only helps out allot with hiring and all, though a school can not replace experience. Seeing as you have experience, my suggestion may seem tame or you may very well know about it already but I thought I would try to help.
Four bottle pouring: if you have something with four equal parts of spirits like a long island iced tea you can take a bottle into the seat of your thumb and another between your index and middle finger, grasping by the necks close to the pour spout. Do the same with your opposite hand. This took me some practice at home, tip the bottles and pour all four spirits into your mixing glass or shaker. The bottles should be straight up and balanced, and you can count out the ml of spirits you pour.
Nothing fancy but it entertains some people. |
