Drink of the Week for Sep 14th, 2001: American Flag

What we had to say

There is nothing our little site can say that has not already been said. Drinknation.com is based in Canada, but in matters such as this week's events, our southern border does not exist. The shock, fury, and pain we feel at the raw violation of basic civility cannot be conveyed properly through words, nor can our admiration for the pride and unity of the American people.

Despite every comedic writer's natural draw towards George W. as a target for jokes, we wish the President the wisdom and fortitude to bring forth justice and retribution. Freedom is not just a right, it is a natural instinct born within humankind and all living things, and those that would repress it can be considered nothing but less than human.

It was easy to pick a drink this week. There was only one choice, really. Even our monkeys were in top form as they pecked out the recipe and reviews on their typewriters and Commodore-64's. This week's drink is our humble tribute to America and it's people. Blessings and love to you all.

How to Make It

This is a layered shot, with the end result being a layer of red, then white and blue.

  1. Fill a shot glass 1/3 of the way with grenadine.
  2. Using the back of a spoon, carefully pour in an equal amount of white creme de cacao to layer it on top of the grenadine.
  3. Finally, do the same thing to layer an equal amount of blue curacao on top.
