Drink of the Week for May 14th, 2005: Coffee Stick

What we had to say

What's the scariest nightmare you've ever had? We figured we had heard them all. Falling from high up, drowning, dance-a-thons with Richard Simmons, you name it. One of our interns even reported that he had recurring visions of being trapped in a cellar with a chainsaw-wielding maniac, but he's really just overreacting. It was only a broom closet and our janitor, "Unhinged" Ed, and they were just hedge-trimmers. All that aside, we were subjected to a terrible, horrible week when we discovered we had no internet access.

There was nothing we could do. It was something serious, like a construction worker with a backhoe got attacked by angry eagles, which summoned some bee swarms that stung him to death just as a cement mixer slammed into the backhoe and forced it into the path of a tornado causing it to hit a power pole at the same instant a natural gas line exploded. And just like that, we had no internet. Eventually we got thirsty waiting for it to come back, so in despair we started testing drinks to send out as Drink of the Week. In this dark time of suffering and woe we thought all was lost, but after awhile we realized we normally do that each week anyway! And while we were doing that, the internet came back. Our nightmare was over, we were alive, and we also had a Drink of the Week.

All the same, we went out and bought angry-bee-summoning-eagles-causing-backhoe-cement-mixer-tornado-explosions insurance. It's sort of a niche market, but you can never be too sure.
