Drink of the Week newsletter: Like Shakespeare, except you get to drink.Drink of the Week for Sep 6th, 2001: Yale CocktailWhat we had to sayThe word Yale conjures up images of centuries-old halls of learning, steeped in tradition, pride and wisdom. Well, that and smarmy, sweater-around-the-neck smart-ass students with fathers that own more sports cars than the average person has blood cells. Whatever you think about Yale, we must not forget one of their finest contributions to mankind... this week's drink. We actually have no idea if the Yale cocktail was invented at Yale, but we tend to think that with all those sweaters over the last 300 years, someone had to have snapped and gone binge drinking. Probably the faculty. The Yale cocktail is basically a gin martini, with a few tasty additions in the form of curacao and bitters. Simple, yet effective. The next time you're at a martini bar, order one of these and impress your friends with a tasty classic. But for god's sake, lose the sweater.
