Drink of the Week newsletter: Like Shakespeare, except you get to drink.
Drink of the Week for Sep 19th, 2005: A Bitter Canadian
What we had to say
The almighty Drink of the Week has many tributes and demerits to give out to deserving parties at this time. First off, applause to all parties who made the trek down south and helped those in need. In some cases, they got there earlier than the US rescue efforts could manage and provided much needed relief and are helping people get back on their feet. We salute you with this drink of the week. We also salute the following things on our annual tribute list:
- The old guy down the street who goes jogging every day
- People who can use the word "opprobrium" in a sentence.
- Jon Stewart
- People who pull over to talk on their cell phones when they're in their car.
- Flying Spaghetti Monsterism
With opprobrium, we award the honor of "most hated" to the guy that changed Blue Whale candy from the old version to the new terrible grapey version. What's the deal? Not only does it taste horrible, it sticks in your teeth. We also find "entertainment news" shows guilty of idiocy and fine them $25, and 600 hours of penance by watching Fox News. Although...that might be their problem in the first place. There's lots of other stuff that made the demerits list, but "being a Debbie Downer" was on the list so we can't go on without putting ourselves on it. So we'll just have a drink.
