Ingredients

  • 1 bottle Tequila, gold
  • 2 fresh limes juiced Lime Juice
  • 1 Cup (fresh squeezed) Orange Juice
  • 4 chile peppers Chile, Serrano
  • 2 sprigs Cilantro
  • Mint
  • 2 pinches Salt
  • 2 tbsp. Sugar

How to Make It

Squeeze the orange juice (preferably using small sour green oranges if available). Ditto the lime juice, also from small sour green limes.

Clean the serrano chiles by seeding them and removing any pulp. BE CAREFUL - your hands, knife, and cutting board will be drenched with a startling dose of capsaicin: IT BURNS! IT BURNS!

Combine all ingredients except the tequila in a blender or food processor and spin until the green stuff is finely chopped. Refrigerate for six hours prior to serving, stirring occasionally. Strain before serving.

Drink the juice mixture from a shot glass carried in your left hand. Drink the tequila from a shot glass in your right hand. Alternately sip / shoot sangrita then tequila (or vice versa, a quite different experience).

It's a real tasty Mexican treat - beats lime and salt by a mile.
