How to Make It

This is a layered shot, with the end result being a layer of red, then white and blue.

  1. Fill a shot glass 1/3 of the way with grenadine.
  2. Using the back of a spoon, carefully pour in an equal amount of white creme de cacao to layer it on top of the grenadine.
  3. Finally, do the same thing to layer an equal amount of blue curacao on top.

We made these this past night for election night in my apartment. Two Obama supporters, a McCain supporter, and one disillusioned-with-the-system guy, and what brought us together was America and these shots (mostly America though). It's funny how something this awesomely delicious can help friends forget about political differences and really celebrate that such a messed up system as ours seems to keep working year in and year out. I will be making these quite often in the future. They're that good, and that fun.
