I bartended for 27 years, and back in the 1970's a Hawaiian Shooter had Southern Comfort, Cr de Noyeaux, splash of grenadine, and pineapple juice. Tastes just like Hawaiian Punch. Cheers!

As a former bartender, I don't understand your recipe at all, alcohol-wise. This is a HAWAIIAN shooter. That means RUM should be the main ingredient. Amaretto, Southern Comfort, and vodka are not "tropical". RUM is tropical. I agree with you about the Grenadine, orange juice, and pineapple juice. But the only other ingredient should be rum. You could probably use dark rum, but I always used light.
