Elaine, Richard, you are both full of snot. I invented the kamikaze back in 1971 at a shithole bar in parktown Oklahoma. The joint was called stinkee’s. It was 4oz vodka, 1oz lime juice, and a 1/2oz of my secret elixir. At first it was called a stinkee sipper until a Japanese man drank 50 of them and fell into a table and died of alcohol poisoning. I then decided it should be named the kamikazee. Look it up. Make sure you give credit where it’s due.

Sorry, Elaine Lipkin, I invented the Kamikaze. You know I always created drinks for my clients when I was bartending at my club in Lakewood. A tidbit of information so you know this is me writing: people used to ask for a "T.R." and that meant "Trust Richard." One time I named the drink "Kamikaze" and that stuck! Remember Zancheck? I know this post is 9 years old but I had to reply.

I always thought, and used: Vodka, Triple Sec, White Rum, and lime juice, with a lime wedge on top. Apparently I have been drinking some pretty strong kamikazes lol

I've found that the best combination of ingredients is: vodka, Cointreau, a splash of Rose's lime and a lime wedge.

I invented the Kamikaze in 1972 in a jazz club named Richard's Lounge in Lakewood NJ. I invented many drinks and named them after my customers. The Kamikaze was for my friend Marsha who managed to destroy every relationship she had with her male friends at the time. I named the drink for her and she loved it. Any one else who claims they invented it are wrong. I can give you a list of many people who know I invented it, including the owner and musician Richard Stein. I was the bartender there for five years.

Raspberry Stoli vodka makes it taste even better! Use sweet & sour mix instead of lime juice and just a squirt of 7up or sprite
