Wassail Drink Recipe
Serving size: 250 mL (1 cup)
- 2 Cups Rum, spiced (Captain Morgan's)
- 12 oz. (or other dark stout) Stout (Guinness)
- 8 Cups (cider) Apple Juice
- 4 Cups Cranberry Juice (Ocean Spray)
- 6 Cups Pineapple Juice
- 1 tsp. Allspice
- 1 whole (sliced) Apple
- 6 sticks Cinnamon Stick
- 4 whole Cloves
- 1/4 tsp. Ginger
- 1/4 tsp. Nutmeg
- 1 whole (peeled and scraped pulp) Oranges
How to Make It
Tie up all of the spices except the cinnamon sticks in a muslin spice bag (failing that, use a coffee filter). Fill a large crockpot with all of the juices, the cinnamon sticks, and the spice bag. Heat the mixture on high until hot. Turn the heat to low and add the apple slices, orange pulp, dark beer and rum. Stir periodically, dunking the spice bag, and squeezing out the flavor. Simmer for at least two hours. Serve hot in mugs.
