Red vermouth is one of the three variations of vermouth, and is often used in mixing other drinks, such as a Manhattan. Red vermouths tend to be sweet, and are sometimes consumed straight up as an aperitif.

Vermouth is a fortified wine originally brewed in Italy, created by adding herbs, spices and alcohol to wine.
